I thought the gun flare freeze-frame was awesome, too.
this is a disturbing lack of immediate global crisis for 24. sure we have Mr Taylor who needs urgent help (and I thought the knife wound in the alley was not fatal-looking either) and the "villain" is still at large, but where are the nuc-u-lar weapons? (or magic CIP whatever?)
but I think I like the idea of a slower-paced section of episodes, maybe we'll get to see Jack have some lunch?
the highlight of the episode was the whole "are you alright?" "no.... I'm not." scene. and she said she was going to quit... tomorrow. was kinda funny since it was a blatant "after the season" time stamp. also the "our rules makes us better" "not today" was a funny blatant "not on this show" stamp. and um, Jack's "with all due respect, ask around." wink to the audience.
I wonder who was in the car that Jack GTA'd? obvious production-crew cameo spot.
