(Nope... I'm not above the incredibly lame pun.)
It's been a long wait, but Battlestar Galactica finally returned tonight with another powerhouse episode. I could gush at length, but I'll leave room in the comments for some of you to do so, if you're so inclined.
I will make this observation: I was really struck by how surprising some of the character behavior was. Some of the things they were doing were completely consistent, believable, and in character, yet were not what I expected. Cain deciding to promote Starbuck instead of ripping her a new one after her mission on the Blackbird. Roslin being the first to propose that Cain must be killed.
Great stuff. At least the wait for the next one is only a week instead of many months.

the whole assasin thing was great. the dualing scenes where they were "thinking", then later explaining the similar schemes. methinks Cain will not suspect it, while Adama will see it from a mile away.
can Starbuck murder someone in cold blood? how does goody-goody Apollo go along with this?
oh, and the most disturbing part of the episode was finding out that Boomer was indeed "attacked" despite the way the "interrogation" scene was edited to appear.
the only stretch was that I think if the Six prisoner wanted to die, she probably could have went nuts a bit earlier. if she tried choking Baltar while the armed guards were there... she probably had lots of opportunities to go nuts with armed guards around her.
the mole
Re: mole.
My money's on Cain's CO doing the deed after Starbuck fails. He just looks disgusted and spent as Cain's giving him the assassination orders. Plus, it would fit the character. He seems like he's on the edge.
I think the actual circumstances of Boomer's "incident" are intentionally vague. Whether or not she was raped should matter; she was highly traumatized and violated regardless. Nevertheless, I'm sure Ron Moore will be forced the answer this question on his blog.
Silly Mole, if the Pegasus Six were shot by guards, she would have been activated on the Resurrection Ship and forced to endure the memories of her torture. She knew that the fleet finally had intel on that ship, which means they could destroy it and allow her to actually die.
My only nitpick about this is that I would have risked the Blackbird again just to get more photos of the deactivated copies on the ship. This way, the fleet knows exactly what all of the possible Cylon agents look like.
This episode was a bit of a let-down for me. Maybe I'd just built up Battlestar Galactica too much in the wait, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the set-up for it.
In terms of action, more-or-less nothing happened. I also don't feel like got much characterization - like I didn't learn more about Cain than I already knew or much of anyone else. The bit with Roslin *was* great, and the split assassination planning was a nice touch, but on the whole I only found the episode to be pretty good.
Season 2 starts on Sky One this week. Nine weeks of quality re-runs (for me) then the rest of the season. If it's anything like 24 used to be, we'll see the ending at roughly the same time.
Marcus, at least you're getting BSG in a timely manner. We Doctor Who fans are still a bit anxious.
