Thank Gods It's Friday

How good is Battlestar Galactica? So good that they can do an episode like tonight's that essentially doesn't advance the plot in any way, and I still absolutely love it. By the end of tonight's episode, Starbuck and Helo are still stranded on Caprica, Commander Adama is still in critical condition, President Roslin is still under arrest, Apollo is still facing court martial, the team on Kobol is still in jeopardy, Baltar is not much closer to understanding Six's talk of their child, and Boomer isn't even seen on screen... and yet the episode is still loaded with amazing character moments, tension, and all-around entertainment. The people who work on Galactica know how to do it right.

hoo boy that mercy kill scene was intense. and starbuck commenting on how the end of the world wasn't that big a deal to her. also liked the minimal visability of the cylon warriors (I much prefer implied terror than actual carnage in movies and tv.) drowning a baby! what other show could get away with that?!

on a side note, while watching SG:A awaiting 10:00, a BSG commercial came on and I did a "24 commercial moment" where I covered my eyes and ears and hummed to avoid any spoilers. afterward I got the warm fuzzies and wanted 10:00 to come even sooner! : )

It doesn't hurt Moore came from the best Trek shows (DS9 and before that TNG) so he knows how to write good stuff...

...see what happens when B&B aren't around - good sci-fi!

Not to mention writers Weddle & Thompson, who did the first 2 so far this year.

OK, spoilers!! I loved the music playing in Kara's apartment. I suspect it's original as they don't play many Earth tunes on this show.

The baby drowning scene was remeniscent of the mini-series, where 6 snaps a baby's neck. Ouch.

Were they attacked by shy cylons on Kobol? Either there was no money in the budget for CGI so they hid behind trees, or there could be Kobolians! I also want to see more survivors on Caprica.

Of last season's cliffhangers, more of what G-Boomer remembers about the shooting would be nice. And I had assumed 6 and Baltar were talking about C-Boomer's baby figuratively. She said it would be his task to protect it. This year, I'm less sure.
